International Students

Thank you for your interest in attending San José State University. The Financial Aid & Scholarship Office at San José State University provides scholarship availability to international students only after the students have established a grade point average at SJSU for at least one semester of attendance. This is a requirement for all of our scholarship applicants, not only for international students. Once you have enrolled in classes, you may apply for the SJSU General Scholarships using the on-line application. Please be aware that international students will only be eligible for those scholarships that are merit-based . Need-based scholarships are part of Financial Aid, which is unavailable to non - U.S. citizens.

SJSU does not offer financial aid or assistance to international students.

Work permits in the U.S. are difficult to obtain, although it may be possible for you to obtain employment on campus. All applicants to the university must complete the “Declaration of Finances”.
All international students at SJSU have indicated that they have sufficient funds to pay for their education.

Assistance for which you may be eligible includes fellowships and scholarships offered by organizations or agencies other than the University, such as churches or fraternal organizations with which you already have affiliations. Once you are enrolled here, you also may be eligible for student assistance jobs and the scholarships offered by the department of the field in which you will be majoring.

We recommend that you visit these on-line resources to research potential scholarship opportunities:
