Federal Work-Study Clearance Workshop

ATTENTION WORK-STUDY STUDENTS:

It is time to schedule your summer federal work-study workshop.
In order for you to work during the summer (June, July & August) you must receive clearance for your Summer Federal Work-Study (FWS) employment. This workshop will provide students with their FWS awards for the Summer 2008. All students approved by their employer to work during the summer must attend a workshop and receive a clearance letter.

Students must file and complete the 2008-2009 financial aid process in order to receive FWS clearance for the summer.

Why do I need a Summer Clearance?
The summer clearance is to inform students of the process and eligibility criteria for summer employment which is mandated by the federal government.

What if I’m not planning to attend in the Fall 2008?
You may not receive FWS for either summer or fall if you do not plan to attend Fall 2008.

What will happen if I don’t attend a workshop or receive a Summer Clearance?
Your paycheck may be held until you are cleared to work.

Do I have to take Summer classes in order to receive Summer FWS?
No, you do not have to take Summer classes to receive Summer FWS. You must however, take classes Fall ’08 and be currently enrolled for Spring ‘08.

How do I sign up?
Choose a scheduled date. You can either call 408-924-6062, e-mail fao@sjsu.edu, or come into the office . We are located in the Student Services Center.
