On behalf of San Jose State University and your host committee,
I would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in the 55th PCAPPA
Annual Meeting and Educational Conference to be held in San Jose, California,
September 30 through October 4, 2006. Some of you have been long time participants
and supporters of APPA and PCAPPA and we look forward to seeing you this year.
We have a great balance of food, entertainment, and education at our 55th annual conference.
Learn - Implement - Evolve - is the theme for this year's conference and should
be an internal chant for our daily life.
This theme affects our daily life and can bring us to be the flagships of our university systems.
I would challenge you to take a moment and focus on what 55 years of tradition mixed
with the ever-present changes and evolution means to you, your family, and your work.
The annual PCAPPA conference provides a unique opportunity for you to meet key
facilities officers from higher educational institutions from our pacific coast (PC) region,
including: Alaska, American Samoa, British Columbia, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada,
Oregon, Washington, and Yukon Territory.
The conference will be held at the San Jose Hilton and Convention Center.
You may make hotel reservations at the Hilton by calling the reservations line
at 408-287-2100 or by visiting their website (www.sanjose.hilton.com).
Be sure to mention PCAPPA 2006 for conference rates.
Downtown San Jose offers something for everyone, i.e. I-Max Theater, Tech Museum,
Children's Discovery Museum, Art Museum, Quilt Museum, Comedy Club, Tide House,
Gordon Biersch, Winchester Mystery House.
Many other locations are easily visited by using our
VTA Light Rail System (www.vta.org)
that runs in front of the Hilton.
Caltrain offers daily passenger train services to San Francisco (www.caltrain.com).
The City of San Jose in collaboration with downtown merchants offers a free DASH Shuttle
that operates weekdays through the downtown and to the train station.
The Caltrain Station is also within walking distance of the Hilton.
San Jose State University is located in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Silicon Valley, the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California,
originally referred to the concentration of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers,
but eventually became a metaphor for the entire concentration of high tech businesses.
Preparations are underway for PCAPPA San Jose 2006 and the host
committee is planning an exceptional event. I thank you for your participation
