Moira J. Sullivan has taught cinema studies since the mid 90's in universities and colleges in Sweden, France, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and the USA. She has a doctorate from Stockholm University, with graduate studies in filmmaking from San Francisco State. A native of San Francisco, Moira wrote her doctoral thesis and subsequent scholarship on Maya Deren's avantgarde and ethnographic filmmaking. She makes short experimental films and is an accredited film critic and serves on juries at international film festivals and events. Moira’s main area of research and publication focuses on the intersectional representation of women and gender in mainstream and alternative world cinema.
