This direct-enrollment Summer School Abroad program allows you to attend an international summer program at JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyvaskyla, Finland. Jyvaskyla is the seventh largest city in Finland, located about 170 miles north of the capital city of Helsinki. You'll be immersed in a safe and beautiful natural environment enriched by architecture created by internationally known designers, such as Alvar Aalto. You'll be able to explore the stunning Finnish landscape through a variety of outdoor activities, in a region recognized as one of the most beautiful areas in the nation.
JAMK will provide organized out of classroom activities including:
- an evening cruise on Lake Paijanne (Finland's longest and deepest lake)
- Finnish Sauna-night with BBQ and swimming
- traditional Midsummer Finnish celebration
- soccer games
In addition, three tours to Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; and St. Petersburg, Russia will enhance your educational experience. Experienced, professional tour guides will lead these excursions in order to provide you with a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and architecture of these three fascinating cities. While in St. Petersburg, you will have the opportunity to experience the spectacular Scarlet Sails Festival. Attracting more than 3 million visitors each year, it is a massive event full of fireworks and music. This celebration is the most famous part of the White Nights Festivals and is truly a unique world-class event!
