Sacramento Delta

"Whiskey is for drinking; water is for fighting over." -- Mark Twain

Water is essential to life. Therefore, it affects everyone. Throughout history, wars have been fought over water. Even today in the United States, conflicts such as state vs state, rural vs urban, and man vs the environment are all but commonplace.

California is no exception. For all its vast wealth, land, and resources, the water that reaches two-thirds of the state's population must run through the vulnerable Sacramento Delta. Despite the Delta's crumbling levees, declining wildlife, increasing pollution / salinity, and threat of a major earthquake, no action is being taken because of the, often emotional, disagreement among stakeholders.

Understanding the issues and each other's perspective will go a long way in bridging that gap.
