Blake joined the staff of Student Involvement's Fraternity and Sorority Life team in 2006, and has never looked back. He is a proud alumnus of Alpha Kappa Omega and founder of the United Sorority and Fraternity Council (USFC). Blake earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business (Human Resources) from San José State University. His passions include anything involving the Pilipino culture, social justice, and hip hop. Blake advises the A.S. Director of External Affairs, as well as the Director of Community and Environmental Affairs, the A.S. Lobby Corps, and co-advises the four Greek Governing Councils.
Associate Director of Student Involvement, Orientation and Transition

Emily earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and also holds a Master of Education degree in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University. Emily works closely with the Orientation and Transition (OAT) staff to implement Frosh Orientation, Fall Welcome Days, and SPARTA Camp. Emily is very involved in the National Orientation Director’s Association and strives to pass on her passion for helping incoming students. She advises the A.S. Directors of Campus Advising Affairs, Student Fee Affairs and Student Resource Affairs, as well as the Fall Welcome Days Planning Board.
Frosh Orientation (2011) - Summer NODA Graduate Intern for Programming
Katie has recently joined the Frosh Orientation 2011 Team as NODA Graduate Intern for Programming. Katie comes to us from the great state of Michigan, where she has studied at both Michigan State (BA in Supply Chain Management) and currently at Grand Valley State University (MEd in College Student Affairs Leadership). Katie will train on and lead programming aspects of Frosh Orientation.

Originally from Idaho, Michael graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor's degree in social science, focusing on psychology and gender studies. He earned his master's degree in College Student Affairs from the University of South Florida in Tampa. His previous experience includes working with event programming, student leadership programs, student organizations, and student government. Michael is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and is involved in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Within Student Involvement, Michael is responsible for providing support and training for student organization advisors and for building relationships between Student Involvement and other departments on campus. He works with the Student Organization Leadership Conference's programs and presenters chair and advises the Student Election Commission.
New Student Transition Services Coordinator

Kelly graduated from the University of South Florida in 2005 with a B.A. in Public Relations. Now she is thrilled to be back home in San Jose earning her Master’s degree in Recreation and working with the OAT team. As the Operations Coordinator, Kelly assists in organizing Frosh Orientation and Fall Welcome Days. Outside of work she enjoys relaxing with family and friends, as well as cooking and entertaining guests. Kelly also serves as the co-chair on the Fall Welcome Days Planning Board and advises the Convocation and Campus / Community Relations Chair.

Rich earned his M.S. in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Northwestern University. Before that he received his B.A. in Political Science and International Studies, with a minor in Italian, from Loyola University Chicago. Before joining the staff he worked at Northwestern in the student union advising student organizations and developing a student employment program based in learning and leadership development. Rich enjoys finding ways to incorporate meaningful learning opportunities into the out-of-class experience and trying new things. Outside of work he loves spending time traveling, cooking, and watching cartoons. Rich manages the recognition process for the over 350 student organizations on campus. Specifically, he is responsible for advising the Academic and Honor Society category of groups, as well networking and building relationships on campus, serving as the main A.S. advisor and educational/developmental trainer, and supporting his team’s staff and programs. Rich serves as the department’s lead in creating a sense of community and spirit on campus, including the promotion and fostering of campus traditions.
Graduate Intern for Orientation and Transition

Laurel is a proud alumnae of SJSU and has worked with Orientation and Transition for three years. The team is excited to see her take on the role of Graduate Intern. Laurel works closely with the Coordinator for Transition Programs to plan Frosh Orientation, she serves as the Teaching Assistant for the UNVS 199 training course, she assists with customer service and provides support for student orientation staff. Laurel is currently working on her teaching credential.

Adrienne is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Studies: Youth and Schooling Inequalities. Shortly thereafter, she attended San José State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Education: Guidance, Counseling & Student Personnel Services in 2006. While attending SJSU, Adrienne served as a Graduate Intern for Student Involvement’s Student Organizations and Leadership Team, as well as Orientation and Transition Team. After graduation, Adrienne began her tenure at SJSU as an EOP Academic Advisor and Summer Bridge Coordinator, then moved on to be a Graduation Specialist with Academic Advising and Retention Services. Adrienne advises the A.S. Directors of Programming Affairs and Extra-Curricular Affairs, as well as the A.S. Programming Board.

Rich attended Slippery Rock University (PA), and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Foreign Languages (having studied Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, German, and Chinese) and a Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel Services. Prior to joining the SJSU community in 2006, he worked previously at Olivet College (MI) from 1992-99, Williams College (MA) from 1999-04, and Washington State University from 2004-06. Rich loves to cook, watch movies (owns a library of over 700), listens to techno/euro pop music, and enjoys spending time with his friends. He advises the A.S. executives (President, Vice President and Controller), the A.S. Election Board, as well as the Directors of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Communications, Internal Affairs and Business Affairs.
Coordinator for Leadership, Engagement, Action, and Development

Pauline Le received her B.A. in English and minors in Education, Human Development, and Contemporary Leadership from the University of California, Davis. She then earned an English teaching credential and Masters in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. After teaching high school English and Life Skills in Los Angeles, Pauline is happy to be in her Bay Area hometown at San José State University. Live music, traveling, discovering restaurants, good conversations, and freelance writing make her happy. Among coordinating the Student Organization Leadership Conference and co-coordinating Leadership Today (with the MOSAIC Cross-Cultural Center), as well as developing leadership programs for student organizations, she is the liaison to Club Sports and also works with the Cultural and Religious student organizations. She is the campus advisor for Alpha Phi Omega and a member of NASPA, the professional association for Student Affairs administrators in higher education.
Frosh Orientation (2011) - Summer NODA Graduate Intern for Customer Service
Jenna has recently joined the Frosh Orientation 2011 Team as NODA Graduate Intern for Customer Service. Jenna comes to us from South Carolina, where she is currently studying at Clemson University (MEd) in Counselor Education. Jenna studied Psychology (BA) at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Jenna will serve as a liaison for campus departments and oversee various registration and customer service aspects of Frosh Orientation.

Qiana graduated from from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in theatre arts. She earned her Master's of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management. Her previous experience includes working in the areas of student activities, freshman and student success, and student services. Within Student Involvement, Qiana is responsible for managing the department's fiscal and human resources operations, providing program support, as well as promoting "involvement" to our students, and fostering relationships and partnerships on campus. She serves on the HR Contacts Group, Fiscal Planning Committee and Co-Chairs the Involvement Team.

Katie received her Bachelors degree at the University of Iowa in English and Anthropology, where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing here at San José State. Her time with Student Involvement includes working with the four governing councils; data collection, organization and assessment, as well as assisting team staff with team programs and initiatives. Katie’s interests include reading, cooking and almost any kind of music.

Maria Rodrigues is the department's Rock of Gibraltar. She is responsible for monitoring the department's budget, purchasing and delivery of commodities and supplies, day to day administrative operations and departmental procedures, and human resources. She has been with the department for ten years, likes to travel, watch movies, dance, enjoy dinners with friends, and has a newfound happiness for her grandchildren, Charles and Elizabeth.

Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life

Diana is a proud graduate of SJSU. While she attended SJSU, she worked at the MOSAIC Cross-Cultural Center as assistant to the Program Coordinator. She was also part of the Latino Business Association, Ballet Floklorico Luna Y Sol de SJSU and Chicano Commencement. In Spring 2005 Diana graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business; she then joined KB Home where she took the position of Purchasing Coordinator. Two years later Diana decided to come back and join the Student Involvement team at SJSU. As the Fraternity and Sorority Life Coordinator, Diana counsels and advises several fraternity and sorority chapters, as well as their leaders. She also assists with the development and advising of the four governing councils, as well as assisting the Assistant Director with the administration of the team and program. Some of Diana's hobbies are traveling and dancing. In the Fall of 2009, Diana began her studies towards a Master’s degree in Mexican-American Studies at San José State University. She is nearing the end of her studies and is looking forward to graduating.
