About Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Sigma Alpha Epsilon is one of the largest North American Greek-letter social college fraternities. We were founded on March 9, 1856 at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. As of January 26, 2012, we now have over 300,000 initiates nationally. We have over 11,800 current undergraduates at 247 chapters and 17 colonies in 49 states. Our creed is The True Gentleman, and we strive to live up to it on a daily basis.
History of California Zeta Chapter
The California Zeta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at San José State University began as an interest group of 9 people in Fall 2005. Out of that group of students, 2 members, Epifanio Santiago and Alberto Gutierrez, were successful reviving SAE. The interest group was officially recolonized on November 5, 2005.
