Spartan Leadership & Career Confrence


Join us at the Spartan Leadership and Career Conference to learn how to refine your leadership skills and utilize them to lead yourself to a successful career. Breakout sessions will be led by SJSU alumni, friends of the university, and staff from Student Leadership, SJSU Career Center, and the MOSAIC center. Connect with fellow students, ask employers questions, and hear alumni share their career journeys. Featuring employers and alumni such as:

Space is limited, please click "RSVP to Event" and follow the steps to obtain your ticket from Eventbrite. Eventbrite ticket is required for admission, and only one ticker per person will be honored.

Please bring your SJSU Tower Card and a hard copy of your Eventbrite ticket to the event, or present your ticket from your cell phone when you check in!

This event is free and open to all currently enrolled SJSU students. Though you are highly encouraged to attend the entire event, you are not required to. No prior leadership or work experience required. Light Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.

1. San Jose 2050: Solving the Problems of Tomorrow, Today: The city of San Jose is dynamic and ever changing. Meet with professionals from the City of San Jose to engage in a series of Critical Thinking exercises exploring the most prominent issues facing the region, and how we could collectively approach solutions

2. Networking: The Power of Relationships: Take the work out of networking! You'll often hear that networking is important but what does it really look like? Learn how to complete a 30-second introduction and gain confidence in starting a conversation with anyone regardless of the environment. Time will be allotted for practice with peers and to get feedback from alumni and employers.

3. Cultural Identities and Leadership: Explore your leadership style as it connects to your social identities while you build your community. In this session, you will assess your leadership style and explore it through The Big 8. We will discuss how your various identities help you navigate your different skills and inform your leadership style through a social justice lens.

4. Living Your Best Life: Leadership Techniques for Daily Success: Being a leader can have many benefits. In this interactive workshop, students will explore tips, techniques, and ideas that they can implement into their daily lives to be more successful in their endeavors and passions.

Is there a dress code?

Business casual attire is highly encouraged, but not required. If you would like to take your LinkedIn headshot at the conference, be sure to dress in professional attire. If you do not own business casual, please choose your “best outfit” to wear. Please refrain from wearing sweats, flip flops, wrinkled/ripped clothing if possible.
