Orientation and Transition

Welcome to San José State, land of the Spartans! Whether nervous or excited, there are a lot of details when starting college for the first time or transferring to a new campus. Some of these details include registering for classes, obtaining parking and housing, and learning your way around.

We know that these are big adjustments and offer several programs and activities to get you off to a great start. Our programs will provide you with important information and a chance to meet fellow students, faculty, and staff who want to get to know you and help in your career as a Spartan!

Tips from Frosh Orientation

  • Wait to confirm summer vacation plans until after picking a Frosh Orientation session, sessions run from June to the end of July.
  • There is a maximum capacity for each session, so register and pay early to ensure a date that works with your schedule.
  • Frosh Orientation is a day and a half program, all students must stay overnight on campus unless prior arrangements were confirmed with the Orientation Coordinator.
  • Read all documents sent to you by SJSU Admissions.
  • Check your mySJSU daily.
  • Register and take your ELM/EPT before coming to Frosh Orientation..for questions on testing, please call (408) 924-5980
  • Due to FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act), it is the student's responsibility to contact our office if there are questions or concerns regarding their Frosh Orientation date.
