Student Involvement is the hub of co-curricular life at San José State University. The most successful students are those who are involved while attending SJSU. Student Involvement is one of a few major gateways to these involvement experiences. We partner with University departments, like University Housing, Student Union, Associated Students, MOSAIC, LGBT and Women’s Resource Centers, Counseling Services, Student Health Center and Academic Affairs in offering a wide array of programs and services.
Associated Students Advising - advising A.S. is at the heart of our mission in helping students to learn, grow and develop into well engaged student leaders. The staff of Student Involvement are part of a cadre of campus experts, versed in the areas of student development and student government advising.
Fraternity and Sorority Life (FASL) - staff of this program team support and challenge fraternity and sorority community leaders and members in their growth and development. The community is comprised of 6 Panhellenic sororities, 11 Interfraternity Council fraternities, 5 National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations (1 sororities and 4 fraternities), and 17 United Sorority and Fraternity Council organizations (10 sororities and 7 fraternities). Each of the four communities is represented by a governing council.
Orientation and Transition (OAT) - responsible for frosh transition from high school to the University environment. Frosh Orientation and Fall Welcome Days, including SPARTA Camp and the Transfer Student Success Series, are the main vehicles for a successful transition to San José State University.
Student Organizations, Activities and Leadership (SOAL) - staff of this program team are responsible for three programmatic functions
