The SJSU College of Education has provided me with an excellent background to enable me to expand my career from teacher to administrator to college instructor.

Student EducatorOur college has been preparing educators for over a century and a half through rigorous undergraduate and graduate study and professional credentialing programs. Our programs have prepared some of the best, brightest, and most committed educators in the Bay Area and beyond.

We are proud to share our recent accomplishments with you:

  • Dr. Wendy Quach received a $580,000 U.S. Department of Education grant to develop assessment protocols to match children and adults with severe communication disabilities with appropriate and effective alternative communication tools.
  • An additional cohort of working preschool teachers and child care workers will have help acquiring a bachelor’s degree, thanks to a second grant from West-Ed’s E-3 Institute for Advancing Early Education.

There is so much more we want to do, such as:

  • Increasing the number of student teachers who will experience “Co-Teaching:” a new model of student teaching launched by our college to put student teachers in classrooms with experienced teachers earlier and for longer periods of time.
  • Recruiting 15 students for the first independent doctoral program in Educational Leadership, which we will launch next summer, pending approval by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Gifts impact these goals and the college’s mission. With these gifts, we’re able to recruit strong and innovative faculty members and attract students with the ability to impact the many struggling schools in our community. Please consider making an annual gift online to make a difference today and in the future.

Thank you,
