Were you glued to the TV watching the London Olympics as I was? Hi, I’m Thomasina Wallace and it was nostalgic for me to watch the competitions because I just completed my four years of collegiate eligibility as a San José State University gymnast. I am writing to thank those of you who have invested in SJSU athletes like me, and to encourage all of you to please give to the Athletics Fund today to make dreams come true for SJSU student-athletes.
When I would look into the eyes of little girls who came up to me at my gymnastic meets, I’d be overwhelmed by their admiration as I saw their eyes light up with inspiration, hope and dreams. One of the best things about being a Spartan athlete was being able to inspire them to work hard toward their goal of participating in college gymnastics.
My dreams came true thanks to generous people like you. To say “thank you” for investing in me, I worked hard to:
become the first Spartan gymnast to become a Western Athletic Conference champion
be one of only five SJSU gymnasts who earned the opportunity to compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships
break the San José State record for best all-around score three times, each time with a higher score
I encourage you to support SJSU Athletics so more student-athletes can work just as hard to show their appreciation to you for helping make their dreams come true. The need is very high. So many aspiring student-athletes will only be able to compete as a Spartan if generous people like you believe in them enough to invest in them. Please give to the Athletics Fund today.
B.S. Kinesiology (this December!)
P.S. You can help SJSU athletes have the opportunity to work hard and enjoy academic and athletic success at this great university. Please give to the Athletics Fund today.
