Corporate and Foundation Relations

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations helps to secure support for the university's academic initiatives, research programs and institutional priorities. The unit seeks to establish strategic partnerships with corporations to create mutually beneficial relationships between industry and San José State University. These alliances build upon complementary strengths and needs in recruitment/hiring, financial aid for students, internships, research collaborations, faculty/industry consultations, and lectureships.

This unit also fosters links between the university and foundations in ways that will yield the maximum benefit to the interests of both. Foundations are a driving force behind much of the research and many of the programs that take place on campuses today, and this is especially true at San José State. Foundation Relations staff identify opportunities — programs, research activities, capital projects, fellowship needs and other elements of university life — that parallel foundation giving priorities.

Represent the unit in a variety of capacities to internal and external constituents.
Develop new strategies to increase corporate and foundation support to the university in preparation for upcoming campaign.
Plan and implement corporate and foundation cultivation and stewardship events.
Work with faculty and administrators to help identify, cultivate and solicit potential funding sources; plan and coordinate approaches to funders.
Coordinate with SJSU Foundation to write and edit grant proposals, complete budgets, gather supporting materials, and report grant accomplishments.
Coordinate proposal submissions from across the university.
