The SJSU College of Education has provided me with an excellent background to enable me to expand my career from teacher to administrator to college instructor.

Student EducatorOur college has been preparing educators for over a century and a half through rigorous undergraduate and graduate study and professional credentialing programs. Our programs have prepared some of the best, brightest, and most committed educators in the Bay Area and beyond.

We are proud to share our recent accomplishments with you:

  • Our Student Success Center opened to provide services for students, including a credential office, writing tutor, and career workshops and interest assessments.
  • Two new full-ride Dean Scholarships will soon be available annually to selected credentialing program students.
  • Professor Ferdinand Rivera received a $500,000 grant to fund the Franklin McKinley Mathematics Initiative to improve third through sixth grade students’ test scores.

There is so much more we want to do, such as:

  • Increasing the geographic range of services for clients and providing more opportunities for students to develop their clinical skills by creating a mobile clinic for clients needing services like those already provided in SJSU’s Kay Armsted Center for Communicative Disorders.
  • Providing students with better opportunities to observe children’s development through the renovation and refurbishment of our preschool into one location with an enhanced and enlarged play area.

Gifts impact these goals and the college’s mission for those who want to make a difference today. With these gifts, we’re able to recruit strong and innovative faculty members and attract students with the ability to impact the many struggling schools in our community. Please consider making an annual gift online to make a difference today and in the future.

Thank you,

Paul Cascella, Interim Dean
