Application Process
Who Can Apply
You are eligible for Undergraduate Admission to San Jose State University if you have
-
- graduated from a secondary or high school
- completed studies with grades equal to a U.S. 3.0 GPA ("B" grades), or above
- completed at least three years of college preparatory mathematics (this includes elementary & intermediate level algebra and plane geometry)
- achieved the required English language proficiency test score
- NOT completed ANY coursework at a college or university.

Admission Deadlines
Application period for Spring 2014 -- August 1, 2013 to September 30, 2013
Application must be submitted through CSUMentor.edu. If supporting documents are not received by the deadline, your application will be withdrawn and cancelled.

Your Application Status
After you have submitted your application, you must activate your MySJSU account to check your status of your application.
NOTE: Your application will not be evaluated for admission to SJSU until ALL supporting documents have been received.
To activate your MySJSU account:

- Follow the instructions below

Then click on your "To Do List" to find information regarding missing documents or test scores that are needed to complete your application.

Be sure to include your full name and date of application.
Estimated Costs
To maintain student visa status, undergraduates are required to enroll in 12 units of coursework every semester.

Required Documents
English Requirement
Students who have graduated from a secondary or high school in a country where English is not the primary language must submit the required English language test score. Students who have completed 3 years or more of study at a secondary or high school in the U.S., MUST submit a minimum 3502 SAT or 842 ACT score.

Your official English test score MUST be sent directly from the testing agency to the San Jose State University Admissions Office (for TOEFL scores only -- use institution
code 4687).
Applicants who have not met the English language proficiency requirement are strongly encouraged to apply to the Conditional Admission Eligibility program before applying to San Jose State University.
Official Transcripts
Students applying for Undergraduate Admission to San Jose State University must submit transcripts to verify all completed coursework at a secondary or high school.
If you are still studying at a secondary or high school at the time you apply for admission you are required to submit the most current "Work In Progress" transcript. You must also submit your final transcript when you graduate.
To find which school documents are required, click on the letter group for your country and scroll down until you find your country. You will find an explanation of the exact documents required and how they must be submitted to the Admissions Office.
Please be sure to follow instructions listed for your country, or documents will be considered unofficial and will not be accepted.

Declaration of Finance
All International Undergraduate applicants must submit a Declaration of Finance form (pdf) and a Bank Verification letter showing a minimum of $29,776.00 U.S. in funds available for study. All letters verifying funds must be dated within the current year.
- If your funds come from your government or a private agency:
- you must complete and sign the Declaration of Finance (pdf)
- you must attach a verification letter on letterhead paper from your government or private agency indicating a minimum of $29,776.00 US in available funds
- If your funds are from an individual sponsor:
- you must complete and sign the Declaration of Finance (pdf)
- you must enter the required information regarding your parents or sponsor or provide a signed letter declaring his/her intent to sponsor you.
- you must attach a letter from your sponsor's bank indicating a minimum of $29,776.00 US in available funds
- If your funds are from an individual sponsor:
- you must complete and sign the Declaration of Finance (pdf)
- you must attach a letter from your bank indicating a minimum of $29,776.00 US in available funds

Passport Copy
A copy of the biographic page of your current passport is required.
The name listed on your passport must be exactly the same name that will appear on your I-20 if you are offered admission.
There are no exceptions to this rule.
Health Insurance
International students must have approved medical insurance before registering for classes each semester.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Most common "travel insurance" plans are not acceptable.
You will not be able to register for until you can show proof of adequate health insurance that includes coverage for accidental injury, sickness, medical evacuation, and repatriation.
