Documents for Incoming Graduate Students

Helpful handouts and websites

Make sure you know all of the Spring 2014 critical academic deadlines.  To institute most actions requiring forms, you must use Graduate Admission and Program Evaluations forms.

Review Web Registration Instructions for Matriculated Students to assist you in adding and dropping classes, as well as providing information regarding Special Session programs, graduate students registering for undergraduate courses, and general registration appointment information.

We require that all students at SJSU be aware of Violence Prevention and Health and Safety, including discrimination and harassment.  Please read these handouts and see SJSU's Health and Safety website for further information and additional links.

SJSU consists of several different colleges and programs.  Review SJSU Colleges and Programs to know which college you are attending.  This will be helpful when contacting your GAPE evaluator or getting proper signatures on petitions.

Know the difference between GAPE (Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations) and GS&R (Office of Graduate Studies and Research).  Who We Are will help you direct your inquiries to the proper office.

Steps to Completing Your Master's Degree is a invaluable tool summarizing most of the policies and steps that graduate students follow to get their degrees.  Further information can be found in our online catalog which has our SJSU Policies and Procedures.  Because policies do change over time, we recommend you keep up to date by reviewing the Current Students section of GAPE's website.

In addition to scholarships and grants available through Financial Aid, GS&R administers Funding and Research Opportunities which may be of interest.  See our Funding Opportunities for students and Research Competition webpages for additional information.
