The Office of Graduate Studies & Research Mission

The Office of Graduate Studies and Research (GS&R) strives to ensure the development of quality degree programs, recognize and reward student and faculty accomplishments, support the development of individual and collaborative research efforts, and implement the policies and procedures by which the university is governed. The goals of GS&R are multifold: to oversee processes to ensure the quality of graduate and credential programs, to act as an advisory resource to programs initiating or transforming their academic programs, to advocate for faculty and student programmatic needs in the area of scholarship and creative activities, to ensure the university is in compliance with all federal, state, and CSU policies dealing with curriculum and research, to disseminate the guidelines for policy related to graduate education and research, to facilitate development of new degree programs at the post-baccalaureate, graduate and joint-doctoral degree levels, to promote graduate student recognition via awards, scholarships, and research forum formats, and to assist in the development of collaborative faculty research activities.
