Thesis Deadlines

Completing a master's thesis requires planning and attention to deadlines. Work closely with your thesis committee and/or graduate advisor to meet your departmental deadlines for committee review and the defense of your thesis. A thesis should be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies only after you have applied for graduation and after all members of your thesis committee have approved your thesis. Other information about applying for graduation, university deadlines, graduation requirements, and forms can be found on the Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations (GAPE) website.

There are two important deadlines to consider when submitting your thesis to Graduate Studies:

  • Submitting your thesis for initial review
  • Submitting your thesis for publication

Master's theses are reviewed by Graduate Studies for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. You may submit your thesis up to one month in advance of the deadline. The scheduled deadlines for upcoming semesters are as follows:

It is the responsibility of the author to ensure that the thesis is submitted on time to Graduate Studies and in the format stipulated in the SJSU Master's Thesis and Doctoral Dissertation Guidelines (pdf).
