About this page
This page gives you links to more specific information regarding how to use the university's main e-mail systems.
Applying for e-mail accounts at SJSU
- UNIX
This is a legacy system and you can no longer apply for a new UNIX account for e-mail.
- Campus E-Mail (Lotus Notes)
Employee university e-mail accounts are now generated automatically on another system. The help desk does not have a direct role in the account creation process. CMS, the university's human resources Peoplesoft database system, provides University Computing and Telecommunications (UCAT) with a report of all current staff and faculty. If CMS reports a faculty member to UCAT the system at UCAT automatically generates the Email account and sends out the information to the new hire's department. The department admin and/or desktop support should then take care of installing Notes, if the client uses Notes, or assisting the configuration of the new hire's e-mail client. An employee should not need to request an account from us if his/her records are entered correctly into CMS. If there is a problem regarding the input of this information that could cause the account generation to fail. Account information is sent to the employee's department in a form called a "Blue Mailer." If you are a university employee and have lost or otherwise do not have a "blue mailer" we can help you with that problem.
- Student E-Mail
Currently enrolled students at SJSU, who have paid their fees, are the only people eligible for an SJSU Student E-Mail account. To find out more about SJSU student e-mail accounts, go to the SJSU Student E-Mail information website at:
