Wireless
On Friday morning, October 30, 2009 you should start seeing the new log on screen for the wireless network. Here are a few things to expect with the takeover of the wireless network by our networking group.
- If I have problems with the wireless network, whom do I call for help?
- Call the San Jose State University Help Desk at (408) 924-2377, or go to the Help Desk ticket Web portal and create a ticket requesting assistance. The hours the Help Desk is open are here. As was announced to the campus community recently, "On Sunday, November 1, 2009, we will implement major changes to the campus wireless network. The wireless network, currently managed by Comcast, will now be managed by SJSU. This means all support and equipment will be local to this campus."
- Do I have to have a new password or user name to log on to the network?
- No, the new arrangement will still use the same SJSUOne password and user name as was used before. You will continue to use your SJSUOne login and password to access the wireless network.
- Will the areas covered by the network change?
- Coverage areas will be the same. There are no adjustments to the physical network. The networking equipment is the same. All wireless devices that support a browser and worked on the wireless network before should continue to work on the wireless network.
- Will guest users of the wireless network still be able to use the network?
- Yes, current wireless guest login names and passwords will be unaffected by the move.
- Will public patrons of the MLK Library still be able to use the wireless network?
- No, The library's wireless access will be available for SJSU students and faculty using their SJSUOne login and passwords. However, Non SJSU patrons using their library card barcode WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOGIN.
