Respiratory Protection Program

The respiratory protection program provides information and guidance on the proper selection, use and care of the equipment. It sets forth recommended requirements suitable for adoption into regulations governing their use.

Employees at San José State University who work in or around areas that produce chemical, particle or oxygen deficient environments above established OSHA exposure levels, need to participate in the Respiratory Protection Program.

SJSU makes respiratory equipment and exams available at no cost to all employees who in this program.

Medical screening is required before using a respirator on the job.

Employees may elect to voluntarily use a dust mask for nuisance particles such as dust or light odors
