Richard has been certifying fooodservice managers in ServSafe®, Food Safety Training for over 15 years. He has successfully trained thousands of industry professionals, having taught classes for the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, the California Restaurant Association, California Culinary Academy, Disneyland, and numerous other companies. He has earned the prestigious Foodservice Management Professional (FMP) designation from the National Restaurant Association. Richard is a former president of the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce, former chair of the Hospitality Management Advisory Board at SJSU, and has served on numerous boards and committees throughout Santa Cruz and the Bay Area. He has also been an instructor with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. When Richard is not working he enjoys endurance sports and has completed six marathons and a number of triathlons. He and his wife Laura have been married 33 years and have three children ages 29, 27 and 21.
For four years now, I have been working for Classic Wine of California (the largest privately owned grape growers in the US) as the On-Premise Specialist in the Bay Area. As well as knowing many of the local restaurant owners in the South Bay, I have been able to help get a larger contribution to the IHC event over the past two years. My wine knowledge goes beyond my involvement in the industry for a number of years, but also have completed my Sommelier training through the Court of Master Sommeliers. This has helped to not only teach the students about tasting, history, but also the service of wine. Very helpful for Hospitality majors interested in tourism.
