Here is an update of the Hospitality Career Expo on March 20 at San Francisco State University Campus. All students, alumni, and friends are welcome to attend.

The Expo will run from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be a great opportunity to look for jobs or interns. So, please have your resume ready.

We will provide bus transportation from SJSU to SFSU. The buses will leave at 9 am and 10:30 am (Both cap at 100 passengers). For the returning trip, all buses will leave at 2 pm, and should be back to SJSU campus before 3:30 pm.

NOTE - This is a "Dress to Impress" event, meaning professional dress is required. Also, don't forget to bring your resumes with you.

We are having a great networking opportunity for all of you.
The Hospitality, Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) Student Chapter have invited three professionals from Nor. 1 (, the leading company of hotel upsell technology to connect with you on October 8th, 10:30 am-11:00 am.

We are going to hold a coffee reception at SPX 47 (the HSPM Department Conference Room). Ms. Jill Garcia, the Nor 1 HR manager is an outstanding HSPM alumna and she will share her SJSU experience and career planning suggestions with us.

This is a great time to find your internship and network with both your peers and the hospitality professionals.

Diane Guerrazzi, the Associate Professor of Journalism will be leading a group of students on a SJSU Study Abroad Program, December 27-January 12. The students will be focusing on the development of tourism in Dubai and Oman. 

Students will have the opportunity to make a documentary about "A Tale of Two Cities," exploring how Dubai and Oman have approached tourism and development very differently. (Dubai has created huge skyscrapers, while Oman has preserved forts and palaces. Both places are seeking to appeal to the high-end tourist market.) 

We are partnering in this study abroad with the University of Arizona. The mayor of Muscat, Oman is a graduate of the architecture program at U of A, and he is welcoming our students.

Students can earn three units of MComm 180, Global Leadership. Or we may want to offer them the opportunity to do a research paper which would qualify for some direct Hospitality/Tourism credit (depending on department consent).
