International Transfer Steps to Enrollment

Meet All Deadlines

If you miss an SJSU deadline, we will withdraw your application for admission, and you will not be able to attend SJSU for the term you originally intended. If you anticipate any problems completing the required steps below by the stated deadlines, contact admissions@sjsu.edu prior to the deadline.

Steps to Enrollment

Before starting the Steps to Enrollment process, make sure you have activated your MySJSU account. SJSU communicates by posting items to your “To Do List” and sending messages to your MySJSU account.

Submit Your Intent to Enroll

If admitted, you must complete the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process by the date posted on your MySJSU “To Do List”. The Next Steps Intent to Enroll process includes accepting SJSU’s offer of admission, signing up for Transfer Orientation, and paying for Orientation. All steps must be completed to maintain admission at SJSU.

*Please note that if you are offered admission as a lower division transfer (less than 60 transferable units) you must also complete the EPT/ELM requirement. This requirement is only visible on Step Two of the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process for lower division transfer students.

Sign up for Transfer Orientation

Transfer Orientation is a mandatory one-day program. For details, visit the Transfer Orientation website.

Pay for Transfer Orientation

Once you choose an orientation session, you will be directed to pay the nonrefundable $80 fee online via credit card. You will receive an email receipt 3-5 days after submitting your payment.

Apply for Campus Housing (Optional)

If you would like to live in campus Housing while attending SJSU, you must complete a Housing Application. The priority Housing application deadline is April 1 for a Fall term.

Purchase Health Insurance

SJSU requires all students to have medical insurance, and all international students are required to purchase the SJSU health insurance coverage prior to registering for classes. You can register for the mandatory SJSU health insurance online. To enroll, go to http://studentinsurance.wellsfargo.com then, select “Find Your School Plan” and type “San Jose State University.” Select “2016-2017 San Jose State Univ.- International.”

Attend Transfer Orientation (Mandatory)

Transfer Orientation is mandatory. If you are late or leave during any portion of the program, your admission will be withdrawn.

Take the Writing Skills Test

Taking the WST is highly recommended before enrolling for upper division transfers. All upper division students must pass the WST in order to register for SJSU Studies General Education Courses.

Register for Classes

Registration is a multi-step process. To view what is needed from an incoming transfer student in order to register, visit our registration information.

Submit Final Transcripts and Documents

Continue to check your MySJSU “To Do List” for transcript and document deadlines. We review your final transcript to verify that you completed all required courses for admission. Final transcripts must be submitted by the date listed on your MySJSU “To Do List”. If you have AP, IB or CLEP exam results, please have official test results sent to SJSU.

Pay your Tuition and Fees

Fees are due after registering for your classes. Check your MySJSU account under "Finances" to see your payment due date.
