At ISREE, we have proposed new ways of learning and leadership motivation. Through intense multi-disciplinary exposure students in physical science, social science, applied science, business, engineering and the humanities and the arts, students find there is little left out of problem-solving but taking informed action. The ISREE Challenge to twenty-first century education: Intense educational holism yields motivated and informed leadership.
In Fall 2008, The Institute for Social Responsibility, Ethics and Education in cooperation with SJSU Deans put this vision into action. We launched a University-wide course titled Climate Initiatives Solutions, catalogued as UNVS 196D. Six SJSU faculty, each from a different college, guided teams of four or five students through concrete environmental issues.
