Below are the eligibility criteria for freshman and transfers, as well as the supplemental criteria for transfers.

The following list is subject to change. Updates can be found at SJSU Admissions.

SJSU will rank students based on GPA, test scores and other supplemental criteria. SJSU will admit students only in sufficient numbers to meet the individual major’s total capacity.
Frosh minimum Eligibility Index3200 SAT or 760 ACT
Frosh residents of other states and international applicants3502 SAT or 842 ACT
All Transfer applicants minimum GPA2.60, or above
LOCAL*Guaranteed offer of provisional admission to major or Undeclared major
NON-LOCAL**Offer of provisional admission not guaranteed

*LOCAL frosh: Graduate from high school in Santa Clara County
**NON-LOCAL frosh: Graduate from any high school outside of Santa Clara County
*LOCAL transfer: Majority of units earned at a college in Santa Clara or Santa Cruz Counties
**NON-LOCAL transfer: Majority of units earned at a college outside of Santa Clara or Santa Cruz Counties
