Fall 2009 Advising:

Fall advising will be conducted during the following hours below. Advisors conduct office hours by drop-in only. If you wish to make an appointment, please contact the advisor on your own. Department staff only make appointments for the Department Chair. If you wish to make an appointment with the Department Chair for reasons outside of major advising and/or applying for graduation, please email jsdept@casa.sjsu.edu or call the Department Office at 408.924.2940. Please bring the following to your advising session or you will not be seen by an advisor:

• All college transcripts (this is especially important if you are a transfer student since we cannot view your records from the Registrar's Office. It takes the Registrar at least 2 semesters to input the data into MySJSU.)
• Filled out and completed forms. (i.e. major form worksheets for graduation, petitions, etc.)
• Additional paperwork that needs to be attached to University petitions (i.e. transcripts, statement of purpose, doctor's notes, etc.)

Faculty and Staff are currently on unpaid furloughs which may effect office hours. We will do all that we can to preserve the quality of services to you our students, but we ask that you be patient and understanding during this difficult time. Please be advised that office hours may change without prior notice. The Department recommends that you try calling on the day that you will be coming to campus for advising to be sure that the advisor is on campus and conducting advising hours.
