Shelby B. Brewer Memorial Scholarship [PDF]

2017 Recipient: Cristina Delgado

Expected graduation year: 2018   cdelgado

Career plans: I hope to become a probation officer and eventually attend law school to represent juveniles.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Brewer family for the generous contribution towards my future. I am honored to be the recipient of the Shelby B. Brewer Scholarship. This scholarship will enable me to focus on my goal of working with justice-engaged juveniles who are in custody or on probation.

  • Daniel P. Lomio Memorial Scholarship [pdf]

2015 Recipient: Nadia Webster

nadiawebster

Expected Graduation Date: Spring 2017

Career Plans: Upon graduation, I plan to earn my Masters of Public Administration. During the studies for my undergrad, I learned that there is a gap between policies and the education of children regarding sexual abuse/rape. I hope to someday run a nonprofit organization that educates school children about sexual abuse/rape, and helps women and children who have suffered from this heinous act. Although I won’t be directly in law enforcement, my efforts to reduce the occurrence of child molestation/rape will be a means for me to contribute to the reduction of crime and the preservation of human rights.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the donors of the Daniel P. Lomio scholarship fund for awarding me this scholarship. This scholarship will enable me to work less, thus allowing me to focus more on my academics, and my duties in Alpha Phi Sigma (the National Criminal Justice Honor Society), as well as my own personal growth. The gratitude, excitement and relief I feel from receiving this gift makes me feel like all of my hard work is finally paying off!
