Institute for Collaborative Response for Victims of Family Violence
The ICR is an extra-curricular program in which students receive specialized training in family violence and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Institute provides students an unprecedented opportunity to learn about the scope and effects of family violence, trans-disciplinary skills for responding to family violence, the services and systems involved in response to family violence and how collaboration enhances these services.
Through a unique relationship between San José State University and community agencies, students are introduced to the network of committed professionals engaged in interdisciplinary collaboration in the area of family violence.
Students will learn collaboration by
Working in approved field placements
Attending special workshops on collaboration, family violence, court systems, interdisciplinary response to victims of family violence and more
Participating in special interdisciplinary discussion groups
Completing a special project that reflects how collaboration can improve services for victims of family violence
