Karin E. Winnard has over 20 years of combined experience in the fields of learning assistance, student development, and first-year curriculum development/teaching in higher education. Karin has extensive experience as the director of tutorial and first-year programs on both the east and west coasts. She is the former president of the Association of California Colleges Tutorial and Learning Assistance (ACCTLA) and was an evaluator for the College Reading and Learning Association's (CRLA) International Tutor Certification Board from 1988 to 2008. Karin has received recognition from Who's Who Among America's Teachers and serves as a certification reviewer for the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA). She is the author of the pioneering article "Codependency and Tutoring: Training Our Tutors Not to Rescue," which appeared in both The Journal of College Reading and Martha Maxwell's From Access to Success. She is the owner of Wizard Educational Products and primary author of The Tutor Revue and The First-Year Revue. She has taught developmental math courses and has written and received grants for several programs that assisted students to overcome their academic challenges and has led numerous training workshops at conferences and institutions around the country and Canada.
