Program Philosophy
The Tutorial Program at the Learning Assistance Resource Center
is designed to assist students to achieve academically. The integrative
and proactive program emphasizes student outreach, faculty interaction,
and counseling support. The primary objectives of the program are
to:
- Guide students in the development of their academic potential.
- Motivate students toward becoming self-directed learners.
Specifically, the major concern of the program is to orient the
student to the college environment and to provide the student with
the necessary assistance for maintaining a clear academic standing
at SJSU. It is desired that each matriculating student will have
developed the necessary level of reading, writing, and study skills
to ensure success in college.
