The Family Acceptance Project™ is the only community research, intervention, education and policy initiative that works to decrease major health and related risks for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth, such as suicide, substance abuse, HIV and homelessness – in the context of their families. We use a research-based, culturally grounded approach to help ethnically, socially and religiously diverse families decrease rejection and increase support for their LGBT children.

In a simple, straightforward manner, we provide consultation, training and events designed to help families, educators, professionals, and organizations understand and address the concepts of gender identity and expression. Our accessible, practical approach is based on research and experience, enabling our clients to gain a deeper understanding of gender all along the spectrum.

API-Family Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to end the isolation of API families with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members through support, education, and dialog. We provide one-on-one sessions with parents; connect parents with others who speak their language; conduct workshops at high schools, colleges, and adult gatherings; set-up information booths at street fairs; and interact with other organizations’ health and diversity programs.
