Liberal Studies is an interdisciplinary major offering courses in humanities, the arts, mathematics, science, and the social sciences.

Liberal Studies offers two emphases for your choice. The teaching emphasis is an approved Subject Matter Preparation Program for those who plan to become multiple-subject K-8 teachers in California. The liberal arts emphasis offers courses in the culture, thought, art and religions of civilizations from around the world, as well as in science and mathematics.

Liberal Studies students acquire critical thinking and communication skills that prepare them to enter a wide variety of careers, including teaching, business, writing, library work, and much more.
