The required items needed for the Lucas School MSA Program Admission Committee Review are:

  • Your Resume

  • Verification of prerequisite course enrollment and/or completion if it is not already indicated on your educational documents.

  • Statement of Purpose – Please state your purpose for applying to the Master of Science in Accountancy program.  Include your plans for future occupation or profession, and any additional information that may aid the Admissions Committee in evaluating your preparation and your aptitude for study in an accelerated program.  It should be 1.5 spaced and limited to approximately 500 words.

  • A GMAT or GRE score report

  • Two letters of reference are required from either faculty members and/or employers.  The MSA program does not have a standard recommendation form. We ask that each recommender submit their letter on either University or Company letterhead.  The recommendation letter should contain information about you that that the Admissions Committee would not otherwise know by reviewing the basic University application. The recommender’s insights could include information about your ability to succeed in a rigorous program such as this, your leadership ability, and possibly a character trait that would benefit you while attending the program. Citing examples that demonstrate the above would be helpful.

Mail the above documents to:

About the SJSU Graduate Admissions Review Process

When all of your required documents on your “To Do” list are received and your status is listed as complete on your MySJSU student account, your application will undergo the initial review by the GAPE office. An evaluator will be assigned to evaluate your grade point average (GPA), your degree, and English Language Proficiency examination scores if required, When this process is completed, the application will be referred to the Lucas Graduate School of Business for the final review and an admissions decision.

Finalists will be notified by early March. On-campus interviews for finalists will be held in mid to late March. Phone interviews will not be permitted. All applicants will be notified of their acceptance/denial in early April.

While the Lucas Graduate School of Business office makes the final decisions for admission, the Graduate Admissions and Program Evaluations Office publishes valuable information about requirements, timelines and advice.
