Applicants must have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, or hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution if the degree was earned outside of the U.S. An applicant’s grade point average (GPA) should be 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 semester/90 quarter units of study, with an absolute minimum overall GPA of 2.5. There is no conditional admission to the certificate program.
Applicants who have earned a degree from a higher education institution outside of the United States must take an English-language proficiency exam. You must score a minimum of 80 on the internet-based TOEFL, 7.0 on the IELTS, or 68 on the PTE. SJSU does not accept “English-medium of instruction” as a substitute for an English-language proficiency exam such as TOEFL, IELTS, or the Pearson’s Test of English. Letters from applicants or institutions will NOT be accepted. Requests to waive this requirement will only be considered under the following circumstances:
- Received a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution
- Received a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution for which English is the official and primary language of that country
- Completed 3 years of full time coursework in an accredited U.S. institution
The Business Analytics Certificate requires the completion of one prerequisite course, college level statistics, before enrolling. The prerequisite course must have been completed with a grade of B (3.0) or better (on a 4.0 scale) at an accredited college or university within five years prior to enrolling in the program.
