Open University - MBA

Individuals are permitted to take classes through Special Session Open University in our Executive-Style MBA program. Taking classes in the MBA program through Open University is for those students who have not been formally admitted to the MBA program.

In order to take MBA classes, you must have the equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree and have satisfied the appropriate prerequisites for the class you wish to take.   At this time, only classes indicated as “electives” are available through Open University. You can find the schedule of classes online.  Again, only elective classes in the Executive-Style MBA program are available through Open University.

Open University Registration Procedures

  1. Open University allows students who are not enrolled in a program at SJSU to take a class if there is room available in the course.

  2. Open University may be appropriate for someone who wishes to take an MBA course prior to applying for admission, or for individuals who already have an MBA who would like to enhance their skills.  It is also fitting for students who have been admitted to our MBA program and want to get an early start.

  3. Students who have been denied admission to any SJSU graduate program are not eligible to take graduate courses at SJSU via Open University.

  4. Students are only allowed to transfer in six units (two classes) into the SJSU MBA Program. Open University classes are considered the same as transfer classes, so if you have not transferred in courses from other universities, you can count up to two courses taken through Open University toward your MBA degree (Executive-Style and CMBA only).

To sign up for an MBA course through Open University, please find detailed information and the registration form here: Open University Information and Class Registration Form.

Classes are held at 2933 Bunker Hill LANE, SUITE #120, SANTA CLARA (Across from our previous Techmart location).
