Student Clubs

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department houses a number of student chapters of professional societies relevant to our fields of study.  We encourage and support these clubs because they provide excellent opportunities to network with industry, work on project teams and competitions, and hone leadership skills.  For more information or to get involved, click on any of the links below:

Sigma Gamma Tau

Sigma Gamma Tau is a national honor society which recognizes achievement and promotes fellowship among aerospace engineers. The San Jose State University chapter of Sigma Gamma Tau provides tutoring for aerospace engineering related courses. We also reach out to the community by visiting local schools and educating students about aerospace engineering.

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditioning Engineers

SJSU ASHRAE is a student branch of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers. The club was formed to promote and develop student interest in the HVAC&R ( Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration) industry along with environmentally responsible and sustainable best practices. Throughout the academic year there will be a series of guest speakers, industry and cross-discipline networking events, facility tours, and design projects.

SAE is a mechanical engineering club focused on grouping together enthusiastic students for school projects (mini-baja, formula sae, etc). It is also used to educate members through presentations from industry engineers.
