Graduate Application Process
The Master's Program in Mexican American Studies at San José State University is committed to training the next generation of Chicana/o Studies scholars and activists to take on the vast array of issues facing academia and our communities today.
Now is a very exciting time to join our department! We have a great faculty with a wide array of interests/expertise, continue to hire our grad students to work in our undergraduate mentoring program, and are focused on our mission of serving our students and communities through Chicana/o Studies work for Social Justice in all its forms.
SJSU has decided to allow some Spring admits this year. The Mexican American Studies Master's Program is among those who will be admitting students for Spring.
Deadlines and Requirements
- September 30: SJSU online application | Official Transcripts | $55 application fee.

- October 15: Personal Statement | Writing Sample | Two Letters of Recommendation. Descriptions of these documents can be found at the Application Requirements page of our department website. Please note: These documents can be emailed directly to me.
