Calculus Placement Exam
The Calculus Placement Exam can be used to satisfy the prerequisites for the first semester of calculus, including Math 30, Math 30P/PL and Math 71. More information, including test dates and registration can be found on the Calculus Placement Exam Information page.
Because the purpose of a placement exam is to place students in the most appropriate course based on their current comfort with math topics, we strongly discourage taking the test more than one time as it may place the student in a class they are not adequately prepared for.
We also discourage students who have taken or are taking Math 19 to take the CPE in order to place into a class that is higher than the class they are eligible for based on their Math 19 grade. A student's grade in Math 19 is a better indicator of Calculus preparation than the placement exam.
