The SJSU Metropolitan Technology Center is creating a unique facility and partnership that provides new opportunities for SJSU and will forever change how education, research and workforce development are delivered in Silicon Valley.
In the heart of Silicon Valley, NASA Ames is developing a world-class, shared-use education and R&D facility. Once completed, the NASA Research Park (NRP) will be a 213-acre campus for partners from academia, industry and non-profit organizations with shared goals in support of the NASA mission. The foundation of the Park is the recognition that innovation in science, education and research depends on the cross-fertilization of new ideas across related disciplines, public and private enterprises and many levels of academia.
Education has a critical role within the NRP with 38 acres specifically designated for university partners. San Jose State has received approval to build a 200,000 square foot facility, called the Metropolitan Technology Center, for its research and education, workforce development, and technology transfer programs within the Research Park. These programs will provide benefits to faculty, benefits to students, and benefits to California and Silicon Valley's companies and workforce.
