SJSU Community Music Institute (CMI)
Empowering the Community Through Music Education
The CMI is an El-Sistema inspired program that empowers youth throughout the Bay Area with access for an affordable music education. It encompasses of several pre-existing year-long programs, such as the Young Musicians' Project (YMP), and the California Music Project (CMP), as well as some other outreach traditions as our annual Summer in the City Music Camp.
But the CMI is more than a network of outreach initiatives! We are excited to launch our "Creative Commons," a place where students, parents, teachers, advocates, and intellectuals unite to share resources and aid in a single movement to foster youth access to music education.
