The Composition, Music Technology, and Theory program at San José State University provides students with a full range of training and experience, from a solid foundation in music theory and technology to the elements that comprise the forefront of today’s musical landscape. These three related areas of study combine to create this vanguard program.
Opportunities
Composers forum
A weekly discussion gathering of composition students and faculty, the Composers Forum serves as an integral part of the program.
Reading session
An annual collaborative project that reads, critiques, and records a student composition by a local professional ensemble.
Other opportunities
Student composers have the opportunity to collaborate with instrumental groups and have their work performed in public concerts and recitals. Advanced students can create compositions for visual media and film collaborations.
