James Murray, SMD’s information technology specialist, graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in MIS. He worked for IBM as a programmer/analyst for six years at the elite Santa Teresa Programming Lab, then branched out to try his hand as a software trainer and systems administrator. In the 1990s, he worked as a database designer/implementation specialist as well as a lead course developer/instructor for a CRM firm.
He began his career at SJSU at the MLK Library Help Desk in 2008; he then moved to the Center for Faculty Development in 2010, where he developed and taught classes on Gmail and Accessibility. In 2011, he began his current position of serving the faculty and staff of the Humanities and Arts as an IT.
Mr. Murray has an unquenchable passion for photography and has won several awards for his work. He is married and has a sixteen-year-old stepdaughter.
