The old network was part of the campus network and was directly attached to the wired network. The new network is part of the Comcast network and is owned and managed by Comcast. Any resources that you can reach through any outside ISP such as Comcast, SBC or Earthlink will be reachable through this network. TOP OF PAGE What is the “Walled Garden” on the wireless network? The websites for San José State University, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, the City of San Jose, Associated Students and University Help Desk are accessible without logging on to the wireless network. Anyone can reach these websites. However, to reach any other website, you must have a valid SJSUOne ID and log on to the network TOP OF PAGE What wireless NICs are supported on the wireless network? All typical wireless cards which support 802.11 a/b/g will be supported on the network. TOP OF PAGE What is the new SSID for the wireless network? Wireless has been installed in every campus building except the Market Café, Event Center, the parking garages and Campus Village. You can also connect to the network in the outdoor areas around the Student Union, Business Tower, University House, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. library, and along El Paseo De Cesar E. Chavez. TOP OF PAGE How to I set up my SMTP Mail client? Use smtp.comcast.net as the SMTP gateway. TOP OF PAGE How do I print from the wireless network? Printing is not yet available but will be coming in a few weeks. For right now, you will need to connect to the wired network to print. TOP OF PAGE Why don’t I get a splash page all of the time? If your browser’s home page is set to any of the websites in the “Walled Garden,” you will go directly to those websites and bypass the splash page. However, if you leave those websites to go to any other website, you will be directed to the splash page to login. You must have a valid SJSUOne ID to log on to the network TOP OF PAGE How do I login? Open your browser and you will automatically be directed to the login splash page, or: Go to https://wireless.nnu.com/sjsu/main to reach the login screen. It’s a good idea to bookmark the login page. TOP OF PAGE How do I logout when I have left the logout splash page? Go to https://wireless.nnu.com/sjsu/loginsuccess to get the logout screen. Remember to bookmark the successful login page so you can bring up the page to logout. A reminder notice to bookmark the page will pop up as soon as you log in. TOP OF PAGE Can I use the Comcast network off campus or at home? The wireless network is strictly for the campus. There are no plans to offer University sponsored network access anywhere off campus. There are no discounts for Comcast home networks. TOP OF PAGE What are guest accounts? Guest accounts allow visiting faculty, staff, campus vendors and MLK Library vendors, who do not have an SJSUOne account, to log in to the wireless network. Seminars guests and other special functions can obtain Guest accounts through special arrangement. Guest accounts have access to the wireless network identical to an SJSUOne account. Guest accounts are temporary accounts and will have a defined expiration date. TOP OF PAGE How are guest accounts obtained? Any University faculty member or staff can request a guest account for their guest lecturer, professor, or vendor. Students cannot request guest accounts. Guest accounts will be e-mailed within 24 hours before the requested activation date. TOP OF PAGE Who do I call for technical support? If you are unable to see the login splash page or you see "The page cannot be displayed" error message when you open your browser, you my be experiencing a problem accessing the wireless network.
