One Millionth visitor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library

Date: 12/01/2003

Freshmen Sonia Azevedo, who arrived from the campus side, and Maria Bueltron, who arrived from the city side, share the limelight as the King Library celebrated its one millionth visitor on Monday, Dec. 1.

University Library Dean Patricia Senn Breivik and San José Public Library Director Jane Light celebrated the arrival of the King Library's one millionth visitor this week. That milestone was reached early Monday, December 1, four months earlier than projected. Although the count-to-date was a cumulative figure representing visitors entering either entrance, staff began monitoring both campus and public entrances more closely during the final countdown. When the total reached 999,900, visitors entering each entrance was counted separately so that in the end, a "one millionth" visitor was identified from both entrances, and honored with special gift bouquets presented by Breivik and SJPL Assistant Library Director Ned Himmel.
