Current Course Offering Audiomentry for School Nurse
School Audiometrist Certificate
Students may obtain the California School Audiometrist Certificate by doing any one of the following:
- Taking EdAU 115 and EdAU 170 at San Jose State University or by taking a course or courses that meets this requirement at CSU Chico, CSU Sacramento, CSU San Bernardino (online course) or the University of the Pacific. Each of these universities has courses that satisfy requirements to obtain the California School Audiometrist Certificat
School Nurse Credential
All of the programs listed below require a current California R.N. license, baccalaureate degree, and must meet the University and School of Nursing admission and health requirements.
The Master of Science Clinical School Nurse Specialist/School Nurse Credential Program
Option includes 14 units of core course and 19 units of functional option course for a total of 33 units. Completion of the 33 units provides the required coursework for the School Nurse Credential.
An additional 3 units of project or thesis courses leads to the MS with a Clinical Nurse Specialist and School Nurse Credential*
The Post Master’s School Nurse Credential program
leads to the California School Nurse Credential. It does not lead to a university degree; units can be applied to the SJSU MS Degree. The Post Master’s SNCP includes 14 units of core classes and 19 units of function option course for a total of 33 units. In most instances students have coursework from their MS degree that may be substituted; in some cases as few as 16 units are required*
*Additional coursework may be required to meet specified content areas for a non-nursing baccalaureate degree. Requirements for the California School Audiometrist Certificate also must be met (see above).
