 Considering a Career in Nursing?

The US Labor Department identifies the Registered Nurse (RN) as the top occupation in terms of job growth. California is among many states that continues to experience a nursing shortage. This workforce shortage is anticipated to increase as California's demographics grow and shift.

Career possibilities for Bachelor of Science prepared nurses are: Home Health Care Nurse, Case Manager, Sub-Acute Nurse, Hospital Staff Nurse, Health Clinic Nurse, Advice Nurse, Public Health Nurse, Manager, Administrator, Educator, School Nurse, and Primary Care Nurse. Nursing careers vary over a lifetime and permit changing careers within one profession.

Advanced (Masters in Nursing) Degrees are available in a variety of specialties, including Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The joint Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in collaboration with CSU Fresno began in Fall 2012. This is a post-masters online doctoral program focused on advanced clinical practice, evidence-based leadership, and faculty preparation.

UPDATE: Applications through CSU Mentor will be open in August for Spring 2017 for all undeclared pre-nursing, prior baccalaureate, and RN to BSN transfers
