We write this letter to introduce the San Jose State School
of Nursing Student, Faculty and Friends Association. Carolyn
Spears and I have worked closely with Dr. Jayne Cohen, Director
of the SON, to create a robust program whose primary goal
is to reach out to past and present students and faculty,
and to members of the school's extended family. In partnership
with the school's leadership we hope you will develop a
life-long relationship that you find fulfilling.
The roots of the SFFA go back to 1994 when The Nursing
Alumni and Friends group was established. The NAF has worked
effectively throughout the years due to the dedicated efforts
of a core group of members. The NAF will now transition
to the SFFA.
The immediate goal of the SFFA is to make contact with
all of our past students and faculty no matter where you
are today. Our hope is to design
events and programs that are interesting to you and allow
you to reconnect with your colleagues and to your alma mater.
The SFFA will also assist in the planning of the 50th anniversary
event, which will likely be held during the 2005-2006 academic
year.
The continued success of the SON program is based on our
ability to attract the best and brightest students and to
create an all-around program that distinguishes our students
in the healthcare industry. You, as leaders in the industry,
can show us how to continue to achieve this goal by providing
your insights and assistance. We encourage you to become
involved in the SFFA and the SON in whatever capacity fits
your current life.
