Campus Copier Program FAQs

How do I submit my meter readings?

Use the CCP Monthly Copier Usage Report to submit your copier meter readings. The form may be faxed to 924-1534, e-mailed to ccp@sjsu.edu.

When are meter readings due?

Meter readings are due by the 5th of each month. If the campus is closed on the 5th, meter readings are due on the first business day thereafter.

Why do I need to submit a meter reading each month?

The CCP needs this information to verify invoices submitted by service providers and to build data for future copier purchases.

How long does it take to get supplies once I submit my supply order form?

Use the CCP Supply Order form to order copier supplies. The CCP stocks supplies for all Konica and Royal copiers, so generally supplies will be delivered within one business day. Arrangements can be made for pickup at the CCP Office in the event of an emergency.

When I get a new or used copier, why is it always a Konica or Royal brand?

The university has a five-year contract for Royal and Konica copiers based on a desired list of features obtained at the lowest total cost of ownership.

Why do I need to call the CCP to request a service call and then call the CCP again when the service tech arrives?

The CCP tracks response times of the service providers since they are under specific guidelines for providing service. Our contracts state service must be provided within four (4) hours at least 80% of the time. The CCP needs to monitor all service calls with our service providers so your service requests can be opened and closed as applicable.

I keep getting a horizontal black line on my copies, what causes this problem?

Lines are usually the result of a blemish on the scanning strip. The scanning strip is the thin strip of glass on the left side of the copier completely separate from the main piece of glass. When you use the document feeder, the paper never reaches the big piece of glass and only passes over the scanning strip. Horizontal lines are usually the result of a blemish on the scanning strip caused by a smudge, ink spot, or dried white-out. When the copier scans the document, the scanner picks up the blemish, thinks the blemish is on the paper, and so makes a horizontal line on your copies.

This problem can usually be solved by cleaning the scanning strip with glass cleaner or water. (To find the blemish on the scanning strip, match up the line on your paper copy with the scanning strip. For example, if the line is in the center of the paper, then the blemish is probably in the middle of the scanning strip. If the line is near the top of the paper, then the blemish is probably near the top of the scanning strip.)

I need to move my copier to a new location, what should I do?

Never move your copier without contacting the CCP Office first. If a copier is moved without CCP permission, any resulting damage will not be covered under maintenance agreements. Additional expenses will be incurred to fix any copier moved without CCP permission. The price to move a copier from one campus location to another is generally between $100 and $150.
